How to get to Ghent

Ghent is easily accessible by car, train or plane.

By plane

  • Brussels Airport (Zaventem) (68km or +/- 45 minutes from Ghent)

You can reach Ghent in approximately 45 minutes from the Belgian National Airport of Zaventem. There is a train station (‘Brussel-Nationaal-Luchthaven’) underneath the airport with a direct connection to ‘Gent Sint-Pieters’ railway station (duration +/- 60 minutes). You can also take the bus to one of the main stations in Brussels (North, Central, South), where you can switch to one of the many intercity trains (IC) to ‘Gent Sint-Pieters’. Several rental car services and taxis are also available at the airport.

  • Brussels South Charleroi Airport (112 km or +/- 1h10 from Ghent)

Brussels South is approximately 70 minutes away from Ghent. Nine times a day a shuttle bus travels between Charleroi Airport and Bruges via Ghent, and drops you off near ‘Gent-Sint-Pieters’ railway station (via ). You can also take a bus to the capital (Brussels), where frequent train connections can bring you to Ghent. A ticket that combines the bus and train services can be purchased at the Airport Ticket Desk. 


By train

‘Gent-Sint-Pieters’ station is easy to reach by train from all Belgian and European cities and is only 30 minutes from Brussels South Station. After arriving in ‘Gent-Sint-Pieters’ station, Tram no. 1 on the left side in front of the railway station will take you to the city center. ‘Korenmarkt’ is the closest stop to the conference venue (400m).

By car

Ghent is located on the intersection of two major European motorways: the E17 and the E40. The center of the city of Ghent is a car-free zone. Leaving the motorway, the P-route will lead you to various car parks that give access to the city center. P7 ‘Parking Sint-Michiels’ is closest to the conference venue.
